첫날처럼Nurturing the Eternal Life Within Us
The knowledge that Jesus came to dress our mortal bodies with immortality must help us develop an inner desire to be born to a new, eternal life with him and encourage us to find ways to prepare for it.
It is important to nurture constantly the life of the Spirit of Jesus - which is the eternal life - that is already in us.
Baptism gave us this life, the Eucharist maintains it, and our many spiritual practices - such as prayer, meditation, spiritual reading, and spiritual guidance - can help us to deepen and solidify it.
The sacramental life and life with the Word of God gradually make us ready to let go of our mortal bodies and receive the mantle of immortality.
Thus, death is not the enemy who puts an end to everything but the friend who takes us by the hand and leads us into the Kingdom of eternal love.
우리 속에 있는 영원한 생명을 살찌움
예수께서 우리의 유한한 몸에 불멸의 옷을 입히기 위해서 오셨다는 사실을 알게 되면 우리는 그와 함께 하는 새롭고 영원한 생명으로 태어나려는 내적 소망이 더 깊어지고, 그 영원한 생명을 준비하는 길을 찾는데 힘을 북돋움 받게 될 것이 분명합니다 .
우리 속에 이미 계시는 예수의 영이 가진 생명 - 그 영원한 생명 - 을 지속적으로 살찌워나가는 것은 중요합니다.
세례는 우리에게 이 생명을 주고, 성만찬은 그 생명을 유지하며, 여러가지 영적인 수행은 - 기도, 명상, 영적인 독서, 그리고 영적인 인도를 받는 것과 같은 그러한 수행- 그 생명을 깊고 견고하게 만듭니다.
성례전적인 삶, 그리고 하나님의 말씀과 함께하는 삶은 점진적으로 우리를 유한한 몸에서 벗어나서 불멸의 외투를 얻도록 준비되게 만듭니다.
그러므로 죽음은 모든 것을 끝장내버리는 적이 아니라 우리의 손을 잡고 영원한 사랑의 나라로 이끌어 가는 친구입니다.
