첫날처럼The Task of Reconciliation
What is our task in this world as children of God and brothers and sisters of Jesus?
Our task is reconciliation.
Wherever we go we see divisions among people-in families, communities, cities, countries, and continents.
All these divisions are tragic reflections of our separation from God.
The truth that all people belong together as members of one family under God is seldom visible.
Our sacred task is to reveal that truth in the reality of everyday life.
Why is that our task?
Because God sent Jesus to reconcile us with God and to give us the task of reconciling people with one another.
As people reconciled with God through Jesus we have been given the ministry of reconciliation (see 2 Corinthians 5:18).
So whatever we do the main question is, "Does it lead to reconciliation among people?"
화해의 사명
하나님의 자녀로서, 그리고 예수 그리스도의 형제와 자매로서 이 세상에서 우리가 지닌 사명이 무엇일까요?
우리의 사명은 화해입니다.
어디를 가든지 우리는 사람들 사이에서 - 가정, 사회, 도시, 나라, 그리고 대륙 안에서 - 일어나는 분열을 봅니다.
이런 모든 분열은 우리가 하나님으로부터 분리되어 있다는 사실의 비극적인 반영입니다.
하나님의 보호 아래 모든 사람들이 한 가족의 구성원으로서 함께 속해 있다는 진실은 거의 보이지 않습니다.
우리의 숭고한 사명은 그 진실을 매일의 삶에서 현실로 드러내는 것입니다.
왜 그 것이 우리의 사명일까요?
하나님께서는 당신과 우리 사이의 화해를 위해서, 또한 우리에게 사람들끼리 서로 화해하도록 만드는 사명을 주시기 위해서 예수를 보내셨기 때문입니다.
예수를 통하여 하나님과 화해한 사람들인 우리에게는 화해의 임무가 주어졌습니다.(고린도후서 5:18 참고)
그러므로 우리가 무엇을 하든간에 가장 주된 물음은,“그 일이 사람들 사이를 화해시키는 결과를 낳을 것인가?” 하는 것입니다.
