Seeing the Beauty and Goodness in Front of Us
We don't have to go far to find the treasure we are seeking.
There is beauty and goodness right where we are.
And only when we recognize beauty and goodness that are close by can we recognize beauty and goodness on our travels far and wide.
There are trees and flowers to enjoy, paintings and sculptures to admire; most of all there are people who smile, play, and show kindness and gentleness.
They are all around us, to be recognized as free gifts to receive in gratitude.
Our temptation is to collect all the beauty and goodness surrounding us as helpful information we can use for our projects.
But then we cannot enjoy it, and we soon find that we need a vacation to restore ourselves.
Let's try to see the beauty and goodness in front of us before we go elsewhere to look it.
우리 앞에 놓여 있는 아름다움과 선함을 보기
우리가 찾고 있는 보물을 발견하기 위해서 멀리 갈 필요는 없습니다.
우리가 있는 바로 그 곳에 아름다움과 선함이 있습니다.
그리고 우리 가까이에 있는 아름다움과 선함을 알아 볼 수 있을 때에만 멀리 그리고 널리 여행 가있을 때에라도 아름다움과 선함을 알아볼 수 있습니다.
즐길 수 있는 꽃들과 나무들이 있고, 감상할 수 있는 그림과 조각상들이 있으며, 무엇보다도 웃고 즐기면서 친절함과 온화함을 보여주는 사람들이 있습니다.
그들은 모두 우리 주위에 있으며, 감사함으로 받아야 할, 대가 없는 선물로 받아들여져야 할 것입니다.
우리는 우리를 둘러싸고 있는 그 모든 아름다움과 선함을 우리들의 계획을 위해 쓸 만한 유용한 정보로서 모으려는 유혹을 받습니다.
그러나 그렇게 할 때 우리는 그 것을 즐길 수 없고, 지친 우리 자신을 회복하기 위한 휴식이 필요하다는 것을 곧 알게 됩니다.
다른 곳에 가서 찾으려 하기 전에 우리 앞에 놓여 있는 아름다움과 선함을 보려는 노력을 해야 합니다.
