첫날처럼Meeting Christ in the Church
Loving the church does not require romantic emotions.
It requires the will to see the living Christ among his people and to love them as we want to love Christ himself.
This is true not only for the "little" people - the poor, the oppressed, the forgotten - but also for the "big" people who exercise authority in the Church.
To love the Church means to be willing to meet Jesus wherever we go in the Church.
This love doesn't mean agreeing with or approving of everyone's ideas or behavior.
On the contrary, it can call us to confront those who hide Christ from us.
But whether we confront or affirm, criticize or praise, we can only become fruitful when our words and actions come from hearts that love the Church.
교회 안에서 그리스도를 만나는 것
교회를 사랑한다고 하는 것이 낭만적인 감정을 필요로 하는 것은 아닙니다.
그것은 살아계시는 그리스도를 그의 사람들 가운데에서 보겠다는 의지, 그리고 우리가 그리스도 그 분 자체를 사랑하기 원하는 것처럼 그들을 사랑하겠다는 의지를 필요로 합니다.
이것은 "보잘 것 없는" 사람들 - 가난한 사람들, 억압받는 사람들, 잊혀진 사람들 - 뿐만 아니라, 교회에서 권위를 행사하는 “유력한” 사람들을 대할 때에도 똑같이 적용 되어야할 진실입니다.
교회를 사랑한다는 것은 교회 안 어느 곳에 가든지 예수를 기꺼이 만나려 하는 것을 의미합니다.
이러한 사랑이 모든 사람들의 생각과 행동을 인정해주거나 동의해주어야 하는 것을 의미하는 것은 아닙니다.
오히려, 그 사랑은 우리로부터 그리스도를 감추는 사람들과 맞서도록 요구할 수도 있습니다.
그러나 맞서게 되든 긍정하든 간에, 비판을 하든 칭찬을 하든 간에, 우리의 말과 행동들이 교회를 사랑하는 마음의 발로일 때에만 우리는 풍성히 열매 맺을 수 있게 됩니다.
