Standing Under the Cross
Standing erect, holding our heads high, is the attitude of spiritually mature people in face of the calamities of our world.
The facts of everyday life are a rich source for doomsday thinking and feeling.
But it is possible for us to resist this temptation and to stand with self-confidence in this world, never losing our spiritual ground, always aware that "sky and earth will pass away "but the words of Jesus will never pass away (see Luke 21:33).
Let us be like Mary, the mother of Jesus, who stood under the cross, trusting in God's faithfulness notwithstanding the death of his beloved Child..
십자가 아래에 서기 우리가 사는 세상 속의 불행에 직면할 때 영적으로 성숙한 사람들은 머리를 높이 들고 올곧게 서 있는 자세를 취합니다. 하루하루 삶에서 일어나는 실제 사건들은 마지막 심판의 날이 어떨 것인지에 대해 생각하고 느끼게 하는 자료가 되고도 남음이 있습니다. 그러나 마음을 약하게 만드는 이런 유혹에 저항하며 이 세상 속에서 자신감을 가지고 서서 우리가 영적으로 서있는 자리를 잃지 않고 “하늘과 땅은 사라져도” 예수의 말씀은 사라지지 않는다(누가 21:33 참고)는 사실을 언제나 자각하는 것은 가능한 일입니다. 우리는 십자가 아래에 서서, 하나님께서 사랑해 마지않던 당신 아들의 죽음에도 불구하고 그 분의 신실하심을 믿었던 예수의 어머니 마리아와 같아야 하겠습니다.
