Jesus Gives Himself to Us
When we invite friends for a meal, we do much more than offer them food for their bodies.
We offer friendship, fellowship, good conversation, intimacy and closeness.
When we say: "Help yourself...take some more ... don't be shy...have another glass". we offer our guests not only our food and our drink but also ourselves.
A spiritual bond grows, and we become food and drink for one another.
In the most complete and perfect way, this happens when Jesus gives himself to us in the Eucharist as food and drink.
By offering us his Body and Blood, Jesus offers us the most intimate communion possible.
It is a divine communion.
예수께서 우리에게 자신을 주심 친구를 식사에 초대하는 것은 우리가 그들의 몸을 위하여 음식을 주는 것 그 이상입니다. 우리는 우정, 친교, 좋은 대화, 친밀함 그리고 가까운 느낌을 주는 것입니다. “많이 먹어... 더 들어... 쑥스러워하지 말고... 한 잔 더 해” 라고 말할 때, 우리는 우리를 찾아온 손님에게 먹을 것과 마실 것만을 제공하는 것이 아니라 우리 자신까지 주는 것입니다. 영적인 유대감이 자라나면서 우리는 서로를 위한 먹을 것과 마실 것이 됩니다. 예수께서 성만찬에서 그 자신을 우리에게 먹을 것과 마실 것으로 주실 때, 앞서 말한 이런 일이 가장 완벽하고 철저한 방식으로 일어납니다. 우리에게 그의 몸과 피를 주심으로 예수께서는 줄 수 있는 가장 친밀한 하나됨을 주시는 것입니다. 그 것은 바로 신적인 하나됨 입니다.
