Christ's Body, Our Body
When we gather for the Eucharist we gather in the Name of Jesus, who is calling us to remember his death and resurrection in the breaking of the bread.
There he is truly among us.
"Where two or three meet in my name," he says, "I am there among them" (Matthew 18:20).
The presence of Jesus among us and in the gifts of bread and wine are the same presence.
As we recognise Jesus in the breaking of the bread, we recognise him also in our brothers and sisters.
As we give one another the bread, saying: "This is the Body of Christ", we give ourselves to each other, saying: " We are the Body of Christ."
It is one and the same giving, it is one and the same body, it is one and the same Christ.
그리스도의 몸, 바로 우리의 몸
성만찬을 위해서 모일 때 우리는, 떡을 떼며 자신의 죽음과 부활을 기억하라고 우리에게 외치고 계시는 예수의 이름으로 모이는 것입니다.
그 자리에 그분은 정말로 우리와 함께 계십니다.
“두세 사람이 나의 이름으로 만나는 곳에, 나도 거기에 그들과 함께 있다”라고 그분은 말씀하십니다.(마태 18:20)
우리 가운데 그리스도께서 현존하시는 것과 떡과 포도주라는 선물 속에 그리스도께서 현존하시는 것은 동일한 것입니다.
떡을 떼면서 우리가 예수를 알아보는 것처럼, 우리의 형제와 자매 속에서 역시 그분을 알아봅니다.
“이것은 그리스도의 몸입니다” 라고 말하면서 서로 떡을 나누어 주는 것처럼, 우리는 “우리는 그리스도의 몸입니다.” 라고 말하면서 서로에게 자신을 나누어 줍니다.
그 것은 하나의 똑같은 나눔이고, 하나의 똑같은 몸이며, 하나의 똑같은 그리스도입니다.
