Coming Together in Poverty

There are many forms of poverty: economic poverty, physical poverty, emotional poverty, mental poverty and spiritual poverty.

As long as we relate primarily to one another's wealth, health, stability, intelligence and strength, we cannot develop true community.

Community is not a talent show in which we dazzle the world with our combined gifts.

Community is the place where our poverty is acknowledged and accepted, not as something we have to learn to cope with as best we can but as a true source of new life.

Living community in whatever form - family, parish, twelve-step programme, or intentional community - challenges us to come together at the place of our poverty, believing that there we can reveal our richness.

가난함으로 함께 가기

많은 형태의 가난이 있습니다: 경제적 가난, 육체적 가난, 감정적 가난, 심리적 가난 그리고 영적 가난

우리가 주로 서로의 재력, 건강, 안정감, 지식, 그리고 힘에 관련해서만 말하는 한, 우리는 진정한 공동체를 만들어 나갈 수 없습니다.

공동체는 우리의 잘 겸비된 재능으로 세상 사람들의 눈을 부시게 만드는 장기 자랑 무대가 아닙니다.

공동체는 가난함이란 것이 가능한 한 최선을 다해서 극복하기를 배워야하는 무언가로서가 아니라 새 생명의 진정한 원천으로서 인정되고 받아들여지는 곳입니다.

어떤 형태이든 -가족, 교구, 열두단계 프로그램(중독자들의 회복을 돕는 프로그램), 혹은 목적이 있는 모임- 공동체로서 산다는 것은 우리의 가난함이 드러나는 그 곳에서야말로 우리의 부요함을 드러낼 수 있다는 것을 믿고, 그 곳으로 함께 가라는 과제를 우리에게 던집니다.
