Jesus's Self-Portrait
Jesus says: "Blessed are the poor, the gentle, those who mourn, those who hunger and thurst for uprightness, the merciful, the pure in heart, the peacemakers, and those who are persecuted in the cause of uprightness" (Mattew 5:3-10).
These words offer us a self-portrait of Jesus.
Jesus is the Blessed One.
And the face of the Blessed One shows poverty, gentleness, grief, hunger and thirsy for uprightness, mercy, purity of heart, a desire to make peace, and the signs of persecution.
The whole message of the Gospel is this: Become like Jesus.
We have his self-portrait.
When we keep that in front of our eyes, we will soon learn what it means to follow Jesus and become like him.
예수의 자화상
예수께서는 이렇게 말씀하십니다: “가난한 사람들, 따뜻한 사람들, 슬퍼하는 사람들, 정의로움을 향해 굶주리고 목마른 사람들, 자비로운 사람들, 마음이 깨끗한 사람들, 평화를 이루는 사람들, 그리고 의로움 때문에 핍박받는 사람들은 복됩니다”
이러한 말씀들을 통해서 우리는 예수의 자화상을 제공받습니다.
예수는 복된 분입니다.
그리고 그 복된 분의 얼굴에는 가난함, 따뜻함, 슬픔, 정의로움을 향한 배고픔과 목마름, 자비, 마음의 깨끗함, 평화를 이루려는 바램, 그리고 핍박의 흔적들이 나타납니다.
복음의 모든 메시지는 이 것입니다: 예수처럼 되라.
우리는 예수의 자화상을 가지고 있습니다.
우리의 눈 앞에서 그 자화상을 놓치지 않을 때, 우리는 곧 예수를 따르고 그와 같이 되는 것이 무엇을 의미하는지 알게 됩니다.
