Empowered to Recieve Love
The Spirit reveals to us not only that God is "Abba, Father" but also that we belong to God as his beloved children.
The Spirit thus restores in us the relationship from which all other relationships derive their meaning.
Abba is a very intimate word .
The best translation for it is "Daddy".
The word Abba expresses trust, safety, confidence, belonging, and most of all intimacy.
It does not have the connotation of authority, power and control that the word Father often evokes.
On the contrary, Abba implies an embracing and nurturing love.
This love includes and infinitely transcends all the love that comes to us from our fathers, mothers, brothers, sisters, spouses, friends and lovers.
It is the gift of the Spirit.
사랑을 받을 힘을 얻음
성령께서는 우리에게 하나님이 “압바, 아버지” 라는 사실 뿐만 아니라 또한 우리가 하나님의 사랑하는 자녀로서 그 분께 속해 있다는 사실까지도 드러내십니다.
그러므로 성령은 우리 속에 다른 모든 관계성들이 의미를 가질 수 있도록 만드는 근원적인 관계성을 회복해주십니다.
압바는 매우 친밀함을 표현하는 말입니다.
그 말을 가장 잘 번역한 말은 “아빠”입니다.
압바라는 말은 신뢰, 안정감, 확신, 소속감, 그리고 무엇보다도 모든 친밀감을 표현합니다.
그 속에는 아버지라는 말이 흔히 불러일으키는 권위, 힘, 그리고 통제라는 의미는 내포되어있지 않습니다.
오히려 압바는 품에 안고 우리를 먹여주시는 사랑이라는 의미를 품고 있습니다.
이러한 사랑은 아버지, 어머니, 형제, 자매, 배우자, 친구와 연인들로부터 오는 그 모든 사랑을 포함하면서 또한 끝없이 넘어섭니다.
그 것은 성령의 선물입니다.
