Meeting God in the Poor
When we are not afraid to confess our own poverty, we will be able to be with other people in theirs.
The Christ who lives in our own poverty recognise the Christ who lives in other people's.
Just as we are inclined to ignore our own poverty, we are inclined to ignore others'.
We prefer not to see people who are destitute, we do not like to look at people who are deformed or disabled, we avoid talking about people's pains and sorrows, we stay away from brokenness, helplessness and neediness.
By this avoidance we might lose touch with the people through whom God is manifested to us.
But when we have discovered God in our own poverty, we will lose our fear of the poor and go to them to meet God.
가난한 사람들 속에서 하나님을 만나기
우리가 자신의 가난함을 드러내는 것을 두려워하지 않을 때, 우리는 가난함 가운데 있는 다른 사람들과도 함께할 수 있습니다.
우리 자신의 가난함 속에 살아계시는 그리스도는 다른 사람들의 가난함 속에서 살아계시는 그리스도를 알아봅니다.
우리가 자신의 가난함에 눈 감고 싶어하는 것과 꼭 마찬가지로, 우리는 다른 사람들의 가난함에도 눈 감고 싶어합니다.
우리는 헐벗은 사람 안보기를 더 원하고, 몸이 기형이거나 장애를 가진 사람을 보고 싶어 하지 않으며, 사람들의 아픔과 슬픔에 관해서 이야기하기를 꺼리고, 깨어짐이나 무기력함, 그리고 곤궁함으로부터 거리를 둡니다.
이런 식으로 꺼리게 된다면 우리는 하나님께서 우리에게 나타나시는 통로가 되는 사람들과의 교감을 잃어버리게 될지도 모릅니다.
그러나 우리가 자신의 가난함 속에서 하나님을 발견하게 될 때, 가난한 사람들에 대한 우리의 두려움은 사라지고 하나님을 만나기위해서 그들에게로 가게 될 것입니다.
