Jesus Living Within Us
When we gather around the Eucharistic table and eat from the same bread and drink from the same cup, saying, "this is the Body and Blood of Christ", we become the living Christ, here and now.
Our faith in Jesus is not our belief that Jesus, the Son of God, lived long ago, performed great miracles, presented wise teachings, died for us on the cross, and rose from the gave.
It first of all means that we fully accept the truth that Jesus lives within us and fulfills his divine ministry in and through us.
This spiritual knowledge of the Christ living in us is what allows us to affirm fully the mystery of the incarnation, death and resurrection as historic events.
It is the Christ in us who reveals to us the Christ in history.
우리 안에 살아계시는 예수
성만찬 식탁에 둘러 모여 앉아 같은 떡과 포도주로부터 먹고 마시면서 “이것은 그리스도의 몸과 피입니다” 라고 말할 때, 우리는 지금 바로 여기에서 살아있는 그리스도가 됩니다.
예수를 믿는다는 것은 하나님의 아들인 예수께서 오래 전에 살았고, 위대한 기적을 행하셨으며, 지혜로운 가르침을 베푸시고, 우리를 위하여 십자가에서 죽으셨다가 무덤으로부터 일어나셨다는 것을 믿는 믿음이 아닙니다.
무엇보다 먼저 그 것은 예수께서 우리 안에서 살아계시고 그의 신적인 사역을 우리 안에서 그리고 우리를 통하여 이루신다는 진실을 완전히 받아들이는 것을 의미합니다.
그리스도께서 우리 안에 살아계신다는 이러한 영적인 앎을 통해 우리는 성육신, 죽음, 그리고 부활의 신비를 역사적인 사건으로서 완전히 인정할 수 있게 됩니다.
역사 속에 나타난 그리스도를 우리에게 드러내 보여 주시는 분은 바로 우리 안에 계시는 그리스도입니다.

일반적으로는 역사성으로부터 신앙으로 방향성을 취하기 마련인데, 헨리는 신앙으로부터 역사성으로 거슬러 올라갑니다... 요즘 헨리의 묵상을 읽으면서 어쩜 이리도 내 맘 같을까 더욱 더 공감이 많이 됩니다...
2000년 전으로 돌아가서 예수 껍데기를 본 들, 내 속에 진정으로 그리스도가 없다면, 역사 속에 나타난 예수를 알아볼 수 없을 거 같습니다..
