Empowered to Call God "Abba"
Calling God "Abba, Father" is different from giving God a familiar name.
Calling God "Abba" is entering into the same intimate, fearless, trusting and empowering relationship with God that Jesus had.
This relationship is called Spirit, and this Spirit is given to us by Jesus and enables us to cry out with him, "Abba, Father".
Calling God" Abba, Father" (see Romans 8:15; Galatians 4:6) is a cry of the heart, a prayer welling up from our innermost beings.
It has nothing to do with naming God but everything to do with claiming God as the source of who we are.
This claim does not come from any sudden insight or acquired conviction; it is the claim that the Spirit of Jesus makes in communion with our spirits.
It is the claim of love.
하나님을 “압바”라고 부를 수 있는 힘을 얻음
하나님을 “압바, 아버지” 라고 부른다는 것은 하나님께 낯익은 이름을 부여한다는 것과는 다릅니다.
하나님을 “압바” 라고 부르는 것은 예수가 그랬던 것과 똑같이 하나님과 친밀하고 두려움 없는, 신뢰와 힘을 얻는 관계로 들어가는 것입니다.
이러한 관계를 성령이라고 부르며, 이 성령은 예수를 통하여 우리에게 주어져서 우리로 하여금 하나님을 “압바, 아버지” 라고 부를 수 있게 합니다.
하나님을 “압바, 아버지” 라고 부르는 것은(로마서 8:15 및 갈 4:6 참고) 우리 마음 중심의 외침이며, 우리의 가장 깊은 존재로부터 솟아 나오는 기도입니다.
그 것은 하나님의 이름을 붙인다는 것과는 전혀 관련이 없으며, 하나님을 우리 존재의 원천으로서 굳게 믿는다는 것과 전적으로 관련되어 있습니다.
이러한 굳은 믿음은 어떤 갑작스런 통찰이나 습관적인 확신으로부터 나오는 것이 아닙니다; 그 것은 예수의 성령께서 우리의 영과 함께 하시면서 이루어 내시는 굳은 믿음입니다.
그 것은 사랑이 주는 굳은 믿음입니다.
