The Mosaic that Shows Us the Face of God
A mosaic consists of thousands of little stones.
Some are blue, some are green, some are yellow, some are gold.
When we bring our faces close to the mosaic, we can admire the beauty of each stone.
But as we step back from it, we can see that all these little stones reveal to us a beautiful picture, telling a story none of these stones can tell by itself.
That is what our life in community is about.
Each of us is like a little stone, but together we reveal the face of God to the world.
Nobody can say: " I make God visible."
But others who see us together can say: " They make God visible."
Community is where humility and glory touch.
하나님의 모습을 우리에게 보여주는 모자이크
모자이크는 수많은 작은 돌조각들로 이루어집니다.
어떤 것들은 푸르고, 어떤 것들은 연둣빛이며, 또 어떤 것들은 노란색, 또 어떤 것들은 금빛입니다.
우리의 얼굴을 모자이크 가까이로 바짝 붙이면, 우리는 각각의 돌조각들의 아름다움을 감상할 수 있습니다.
그런데 모자이크로부터 뒤로 몇 발자국 떨어지면, 이러한 모든 작은 돌조각들이 아름다운 그림을 우리에게 보여주면서 낱낱의 돌조각으로는 할 수 없는 어떤 이야기를 하고 있다는 것을 우리는 알 수 있습니다.
공동체 속에서의 우리의 삶도 그러합니다.
우리들 각자는 작은 돌조각과 같지만, 함께 모인 우리는 세상을 향해 하나님의 모습을 드러냅니다.
그 누구도 “내가 하나님을 보여줄 수 있어” 라고 말할 수는 없습니다.
그러나 함께 있는 우리를 보는 다른 사람은 “그들이 하나님을 보여주고 있구나” 라고 말할 수 있습니다.
공동체는 겸손함과 영광스러움이 서로 닿는 지점입니다.
